I picked up a load heading back near my home…supposed to leave today, but didn’t.  Sooo, I got to stay two additional nights here.

I sat all day in the yard with my driver waiting to get him loaded.  The latest word we have is that he will be loaded by about midday on Wednesday.  Then we will head to the OK/CO state line on US 287.

]]> http://allamericanpilotcarservices.com/blog/2008/08/19/in-houston-tonight/feed/ 1 How long does one wait? http://allamericanpilotcarservices.com/blog/2008/06/19/how-long-does-one-wait/ http://allamericanpilotcarservices.com/blog/2008/06/19/how-long-does-one-wait/#comments Fri, 20 Jun 2008 03:30:59 +0000 MrBoyd http://allamericanpilotcarservices.com/?p=77 We’re still in Laredo.  There are problems with the load.  The heavy part is loaded to the front, which puts it about 7000 pounds over on the drive wheels.  If we turn the load around, it is going to be five inches higher than we permitted it for.  We’ve worked on possible solutions all afternoon, but so far, no success.  This makes the second full day we have waited to start rolling.  I’ve passed up chances at a couple of other runs because I have committed to this one.  Now, I am thinking that there is a point beyond which I cannot wait.  I like the driver.  He is a nice guy…and he understands the pilot car point of view.  Yet, I hate to let him down.

I have decided that if we don’t see light at the end of the tunnel by noon tomorrow, I probably will start looking for other loads.  If this load had rolled on Wednesday like we expected, I could have completed it and then been back in Texas for a medical appointment late next week.  Even if we leave tomorrow, I will not be able to complete this run before I have to break loose and come back to Texas.
